Our pool isn't very good, but we still got some future NHLers in the pipeline. For the sake of argument we will keep Barrie and Elliott on the graduated side (though I think Elliott gets sent down here soon).
The Avs still have these prospects that have legit NHL potential (ie should make it, might miss on one):
Siemens (top 4 D)
Pickard (good NHL starter)
Sgarbossa (2nd/3rd liner)
Beaupre (will make it as a bottom pairing shutdown guy, with some surprising offensive skill)
These prospects have the talent to make the NHL but have some real questions still (2-3 might make it):
Bourke (closest to the higher group)
Condon (could be a great PK specialist, will breakout in his first AHL season)
So with what I see in our system, we are not lacking depth in players (bottom 6/ bottom pairing). We are lacking high end skill. With the graduated players, we have nobody that really has legit top pairing/1st line potential (Siemens might be the only one). Going further only a few players have legit top 4/top 6 potential. IMO the Avs have to hit on the first couple rounds to gain some high-end depth in the system to have the ability to replace players like Jones, Stastny, PAP (at the end of his contract if he goes downhill), etc going forward.
