The 1993 Habs was not by any means a poor team. This is a myth that keeps being repeated to "prove" that the Canadiens can win the Cup soon. Yes, they can win the Cup soon IMO, but it has nothing to do with the 1993 team being bad.
The team had the best goaltender in the NHL in Patrick Roy, and was led by two of the best centres in the league, who both finished top 25 in scoring that year (Damphousse and Muller). They had a slew of scoring wingers in Lebeau, Savard, Leclair, Bellows, Dionne and Keane. The defense was young but effective. Desjardins, Schneider, Haller, Brisebois and Odelein were one of the most promising defense crews in the league, all 23 or less.
