not sure if this is what you are looking for, but a huge factor to Chicago's white-hot start:
this season, the average NHL team scores on about nine percent of their shots (and thus their goalies stop about ninety-one percent of opponent shots). The PDO metric combines these two percentages and a PDO over 1000 (that is, an average shooting% plus an average save%) is often-but-not-always an indication of superior puck luck. The average Blackhawk player is shooting at over ten percent while their goalies are stopping over ninety-three percent of their shots. Only five of their skaters are under the "average" 1000 threshold. Half their team is over 1030: only 25 skaters who played more than 40 games last season hit that mark. This advanced metric suggests that most of Chicago's players will regress as more games are played, though they'll still certainly make the playoffs, almost certainly with the #1 seed.
