VOORHEES — Former Flyers captain Chris Pronger met with the Philadelphia media Thursday for the first time since his 2011-12 season ending with concussion symptoms and an eye injury that still is an issue.
Here is the transcribe of his 28-minute interview, and below is another 10-minute interview that that Pronger gave afterward to Flyers beat writers.
"I want to thank the organization for all their support. It's been a tough 16, 17 months and they've been fantastic, from Mr. Snider to Homer and the medical staff and the coaching staff, teammates. It's been from that side of it a wonderful experience. Not great being hurt, but the way I've been treated by the staff, ownership, management has been fantastic. I can't speak enough about what that's meant to me and my family. The staff and the folks at UPMC med center in Pittsburgh that's been treatment over the last 16, 17 months, they've done a great job. Some good improvements from where I was, still have a lot of work ahead of me. With their support, it's never easy going through an experience like this and they've been king of above and beyond the call of duty at times when there were some dark day and certainly want to thank them. My agent, Pat Morris for all his help, just trying to put together different specialists, different people to go see. The support as you're kind of having some ups and downs going along through the various emotions that you feel and go through when you go through an experience like that. Thanks to him and all the people that have wished me well over the last 16 months, I appreciate every one of them. I kind of went dark there for a while.
