I said from the get go that he was not ready to be captain yet, and I think he's shown no reason for us to believe otherwise. He just doesnt seem to have that leadership, the physical presence on the ice.

We need our captain to be a guy who can play both ways, score (of course), but at the same time, can fight and throw the body around, and get into the dirty stuff.

Look at some of our past captains

Lindros, Primeau, Richards, Pronger....these are guys who are leaders. Richards was not the best pure goal scorer on the team, that was Carter's job, Giroux should not have to handle both.

Unfortunately, we lack a player like the aforementioned 4 at the moment.
And they brought this team what?

I thought it was too early to give him the C, but it was clear that it was his team. A captain doesn't need to fight to be a captain. Giroux is as physical a player you're gonna find for his size and skill level. He's not a perimeter player.
