I still don't get your point about Sacco though. Yes, he still counts as an in-hire.

For the record, Sutter most certainly had a connection with the Kings--Lombardi was Sutter's GM when both were in San Jose.

But yes, when hiring staff, you look for the best people available, not just the best people within your organization. Lacroix has always had a thing about loyalty/nepotism--it's what led him to foolishly waste draft picks on Wade Belak and Philippe Sauve, among other silly moves. Dater once commented that Lacroix views the organization as a family, and treats it as such. But the reality is that a pro sports organization is a business, and you need the best people you can find.

This is one of many reasons why I think Lacroix needs to retire at season's end, if not sooner, and take his cronies with him. Hopefully Rick Pracey isn't one of them.
