I'd rather see him buzzing around in Buffalo producing nearly as much as Huselius has as a Panther.
Again, you're painting players with a subjective brush. Again. Pyatt, at 22, continues to improve. Let me know when players drop ready-made into the NHL, until that time investment in time is the only way to bring them along.
And they can get Morrow for what? Is Regier going to ambush Armstrong and hold him hostage, demanding a ransom that the Stars pay up with Morrow and Matvichuk (and their $3.6 million in combined salary)?
So you draw comparison to Jokinen's 1 30 goals season to Modano and his 13 20+ goal seasons. Mike has credentials. Jokinen continues to have promise. I'd rather see the team stick with some of the players they've been developing than go out and take a dip for someone who has slumbered his way out of two cities. Call me jaded, but the Sabres have been down this road before with a big, occassionally effective center making $2 million per, base.
And he's currently leading the Panthers D in icetime. Eventually it would seem likely he'll be their #3 behind Bouwmeester and Krajicek or perhaps their #4 if Novak performs to expectations. He'd be a solid acquisition if the Sabres paid the price to land him. However, considering the disarray of the Sabres D, subtracting one of the very few working components from it (Kalinin) to add something different to it smacks of taking lateral steps at best.
And you think teams are going to fall all over themselves trying to pluck "deadweights" like Delmore and Campbell off the Sabres roster? I don't think so and if you do, just think about it for a minute. They are one of the worst teams in the NHL for a second straight season and their spare parts at the NHL level will have minimal market value at this time. Perhaps a team may become enamored with one or the other, at which time the return might tempt Regier into moving from his perch, but that return looks like it may be a mid-round draft pick or inclusion as a saccharine sweetner to another deal. Judicious roster management is crucial but hurling a significant portion of the Sabres future out the door for the sake of shuffling some deckchairs makes no sense what so ever.
i definatly think Pyatt is a bust. true, players have to work to improve once their in the NHL, but at his rate his gonna retire before he reaches 1 20 goal season. it's a VERY unfunny joke. and Max shows no sign of controling his speed, just zooming around the ice showing occasional flashes of brilliance, maybe a change of scenery would help him reach his potential.
Jokinen i dont know, true, we've made mistakes before, but i think his still a previous all star, and 30+ goal scorer who played WELL in the all star game. maybe wait for a season to see if he performs without Iron Mike.
I take trading kalinen back, he might be valued to highly, and his still got the ability and potential for a no.1 on our blueline. but a few blueliners i WOULD consider getting rid of, no matter who 2:
none of them are as pysical as they should be, part from delmore, who just sucks. get some hard hitting Dmen.
