Think about it this way, would you trade Erixon, Dubi and Anisimov for a chance at a game breaker like Nash? The answer is yes, whether Erixon and Anisimov are good/cheap or not.
Gabby is seen as a game breaker, consistent 40 goal scorer that can be deadly in the right system. Ottawa's system would seem to fit him.
Gabby would have 1+ years to play there. If he is allowed to play his style with a center that can feed him the puck and thrives, with a PMD like KArlsson behind him, there is no reason why he would not resign.
It would feel like heaven compared to the Torts gulag

Their window is not closing. Alfie may have a year or 2 left at most but Spezza is 30. They would be idiotic to trade Zibanejad for basically 1 chance at the Cup and even then it's a slim chance at best.

Trading Ziba for a guy that can put you over the top is something you go with. Unfortunately for Sens 1 player wont put them over the top.
