One has to ponder if it comes out that a contract extension was offered to Hainsey before the deadline and he is not willing to sign it, what message does that send to his teammates?

TNSE has been known to be more than fair in contract negotiations, but if he refuses to sign, which is his right, one might look at that as not really wanting to be here, while in a fight for a playoff berth. Is that his way of trying to force Chevy's hand?

The message Chevy would be sending his players is we tried to extend a player we like, but if he's not interested beyond the immediate future, we have to manage the asset in a way that is best for the organization long term.
