Once again, I'll refer to the fact I have handled many issues similar to this in my days in the media field. And I know from first hand situations, mutual can very well mean mutual and voluntary on both sides. Sure, one party initiates it, but that does not mean the other party doesn't accept it and support the move.

Have you not left your job for another job, and your boss tell you on your last day that they will miss you and wish you well in your next job, even giving you a good reference to your new boss? It's basically the same thing here.
