He was 4th in ice time tonight behind Fisher, Legwand and Erat, since he was the 3rd line center this makes sense. He had 4 shots on goal, which led the forwards. So say what you want but he's getting chances.
I think the point he is making is Smith may be making chances but at the end of the day he isn't scoring. I personally don't care who our best forward is so long as someone is scoring and our team is winning. Obviously tonight wasn't too much of an issue about just scoring though since we scored enough goals in this game to win under normal circumstances but about winning as a team and being good in all areas of the game (offense/defense/goal tending/PK, etc.) and that includes not letting the other team score, turnovers, taking more shots on net, keeping the puck in the opponent's end of the ice and not ours, etc. Too many mistakes and problems in all areas of their game lost us this game not just one.
