Have to agree here. All fantasy has ties to Tolkien, but Jordan has done a good job of crafting a very unique world. Books 1-4 are absolutely awesome. Book 5 is pretty good, but 6-8 are a drag as nothing really happens, with 6 being the best between 6-8. Book 9 is a big improvement (something happens) but 10 seemed to suffer a bit of a backlash. Jordan is suffering from serious writer's block and it is showing. He really needs to end the series and start something new.
