Not to mention, prime (pre-prime?) Yzerman shut down prime Gretzky in the 1987 playoffs on a Wings team that had basically **** for defensemen. Yzerman was put on Gretzky again in 1988 (after he came back from injury), and then again in 1996. Yzerman then was the primary forward shadowing Lindros in 1997. Putting a prime Yzerman in that same role on a prime Gretzky with a prime Lidstrom... I think it would work just fine. Which leaves any number of highly talented offensive players to combat the other Blues players.

The only significant player for the Blues would be Gretzky.
