More importantly is the overall record of the team in Feb-Mar-Apr. In every year of Sacco's tenure, you can look at a point in the season in February (approx 2/3rds of the way through the season), and find an Avs team that had a record that was better than their final record. They simply do/can not raise their level of play as the playoffs approach. Good teams tend to get better the longer they play together. The Avs - every year - go the other direction.

The Avs' March/April records under Sacco (counting OT losses as losses):

2009-10: 8-13 (after being 35-26 at the end of Feb)
2010-11: 4-15 (after being 25-25 at the end of Jan)
2011-12: 8-10 (after being 33-31 at the end of Feb)
2013: 2-6 (after being 7-7 in the middle of Feb)

Obviously, this season is a hugely skewed one and not yet entirely relevant. But it's sure not looking terribly promising right now. Maybe they've all got bad Spring allergies or something, but the team's late season record is much worse than their beginning/mid season record. Every season under Sacco.
