There comes a point where you can feel your shot just wobbling off your stick. Then it's time to let it go. When you catch a pass it'll feel like your stick blade is made out of potato chips. You'll know it when you feel it. Until then, a chip like that on your toe isn't really a hindrance to any part of your game. A good thing to prevent it from chipping further down the blade is coating it in epoxy, taping over it, and playing. You should then be fine.
