A lot will depend on what attendance does after the Bills season ends.

If the fans stay away because the team is losing, then I could see Golisano pumping money into short term moves.

And with the new CBA on the horizon, it may be a lot easier to reload via FA for the Sabres than in the past. If the team does load up on pending UFAs, tehn I wouldn't say that the next 2 or 3 years are guaranteed to be a wash.

If Bettman gets a salary cap in the $35 to 40 million range, then the Sabres should be able to build a post-CBA war team quite easily. The only way they could mess that up looking short term is if they keep Satan and add a goalie like CuJo or Kolzig.
