Just get creative in your practice space. I like to set up obstacles to stick handle through/around. Toddler bicycles with training wheels work quite well: they have about the same footprint as a defenseman and force you to retract your stick to pull off the move. Chairs and benches can serve this purpose as well.

A bunch of pucks scattered on the ground create a nice minefield for creative stick handling.

There's really no reason to buy those expensive gimmicks.
