Isn't it far more plausible Ott's stick ended up under Olesky's armpit (whether because Ott put it there hoping to draw a holding-the-stick penalty on the rookie, or because Olesky indeed held it), and then Ott said "Let go", (whether intending to draw attention from the ref to the play, or legit asking Olesky to let go as Ott was in the offensive zone).

"Let go", not "Let's go".

At least, there is your Reagan-era "plausible deniability".
