As for Muzzin, I seen his offense translating over to the NHl better, even from when he was in junior. Now granted, I didn't think he'd have 11 points in 24 games, but I did see him being a 25-35 point guy in his prime, assuming he made it.
Roach, I just don't get that vibe. I hope I'm wrong honestly, but as I said, I just see him as more of a stay-at-home type, putting up Sean O'Donnell, Aaron Miller, Matthias Nordstrom type numbers. Granted, I'd love it if he ended up as being a clone of any of those three. Miller seems the most likely to me.
You and I are seeing slightly different things in Roach. I see him developing into more of a PMD than a stay at home type. Not a truly gifted O type but one who will pick up assists as the season goes on. I see his SAH game being 1b if not a secondary priority but he certainly has some of that in his game.
Muzzin is an exact comparison to me as he was a physical D kid with good O skills like Roach. Both at this stage in their development had the skills to go either way but had yet to develop a leaning or direction as to what they would become.
While I agree that Roach will likely end up becoming a more physical D focused D man than a true O focused one he is just like Muzzin at this stage in their respective careers as to the style of game that each of them tried to play (trying to play in Roach's case).
The good news is that we will get to see how things shake out.
