So guys like Parkes waste away in the AHL. Nestrasil never gets a scoring line role. Mursak is waived without ever getting a meaningful shot.
And next year will be just as crowded as this year.
I'll concede that Tatar is definitely an NHL player and that Nyquist probably can be despite his underwhelming play with the Wings this season. I disagree however with Mursak. Not a single GM in the entire league thinks he's an NHL player. He can't even stay in the top 6 of our minor league affiliate.

Also Trevor Parkes isn't rotting in the AHL...he's excelling in the ECHL. The guy has been invisible at the AHL level so I'm not sure how playing him somewhere where he gains confidence is a bad thing.

Playing in the AHL isn't some sort of cancer to talent, players are just as capable of developing there as they are thrown in the deep end of the NHL. Some have actually developed better at the AHL level. (Nazem Kadri comes to mind)
