From his time in Vancouver:

- Very patient with trades (orchestrated the Lu deal, turned down B. Richards for Edler, Kesler and Schneider)
- Good at identifying roster weaknesses (Canucks lacked scoring)
- Gives rookies roster spots before they earn it (Raymond was supposed to make top 6, didn't make the team)
- Plugs holes with reclamation projects/bargain bin (top 6 consisted of Brad Isbister, Jan Bulis instead of legit talent)
- trades away 2nd rounders consistently
- drafting is very weak (check the 2007 Canucks draft)

Doesn't address holes in rosters with legit talent but usually gives rookies/projects a chance in the beginning of the season - similar to the Reimer/Scivens tandem IMO. Usually deals 2nds or later picks at the TDL for "help". This might work better with a rebuilding team like the Leafs who have players like Kadri/Gardiner to step up.
