The implication I get from this thread is that we're asking "who doesn't fit the Lazy Russian stereotype" and I'm of the mind that it's a fabrication.
I'd say it's because of cultural differences and adjustments. People who are not comfortable in their surroundings tend to be less assertive. You often see this among N.A.'s in the KHL too.
