Sjostrom was likely ruined in the AHL by poor coaching. Tukonen had some... serious character issues. It's not flawless, especially past the first round, but those taken top 30 from those two countries seem to stick in the NHL. It could just be selection bias on my part, seeing as how there are generally 2-3x as many NA players taken each year, thus greater opportunity for bust. Still, it's hard to not appreciate the fundamentals most Swedes and Finns come with. The pleasant disposition helps too. You still get the occasional Omark or Rundblad, but in general coaches demand 2 way play over there.
