It takes a 'gutsy' coach to try something different. I don't think Carbo is one of them. Not saying he won't be a good coach, but just that we shouldn't expect any big surprises from his playbook!

John Tortorella tries different things; the year they won the Cup, they were sometimes using a 2-2-1 forecheck in the OZ where the on-side D would go as low as the hash mark on the board on the puck side. They were also using a 3-1-1 forecheck against some really weak defenseman. It can be hard for a team to adapt to different forechecking system during a game.

The key to counter this is to offer several options to the puck carrier and close support.
