Sure, Iginla is older and a UFA, so Gaborik will have a bit more value -- but some of that is mitigated by Gaborik's struggles this season, and the fact hes a ghost when hes not scoring goals...same cant be said about Iginla.

Nonethless, he is traded for 2 B-level prospects, and a 1st rounder that'll be close to 30th overall.

My only saving grace is that Jay Feaster is one of the worst GM's in the league.

But the thought we can hoodwink a team for a top 6 forward, a top prospect, and a 1st rounder is pretty far fetched.
Iginla had a NMC and told Feaster he wanted to go to Pittsburgh. And he's a 35 year old UFA who has not had a very good year himself, on pace for 22 goals and 55 points. Gaborik has similar #s, and is younger.

The situations aren't remotely comparable. Frankly, I don't know what Gaborik would fetch. All I know is that he won't be traded if the package doesn't improve this team.
