Mclovin has come up with a theory. Mclovin thinks that if we trade Gardiner for Couturier, Burke will end up not looking that bad for the Kessel trade. Here's why.

Burke stole us Lupul in the Beauchemin trade. Mclovin and the rest of the leaf fans can pretend that this was a straight swap, and Gardiner was just gravy.

If we trade Gardiner for Couturier, it would be like we had kept our 2011 1st round pick, since chances are we would've chosen Couturier over Hamilton anyways (we badly needed a centre)

The fact that Burke was able to fleece Anaheim for Gardiner and trade it for the 8th overall pick in 2011 means that the Kessel trade ends up looking like Kessel straight up for Seguin, which is far more plausible.

Therefore, Burke looks less like a villain and more so a hero when he made that deal.
