New Jersey is a unique situation. The biggest problem is that they play out of the poorest arena in the NHL (now that Phoenix has a new one), which is also in probably the worst location possible.

With Philadelphia, NYR and NYI surrounding the Devils...all three teams which were there long before the Devils moved in, they weren't going to have the strongest fanbase in the world to begin with. That being said, if they built a new arena in a location with easier public access, they would draw many more fans.
