Just a heads up, these are generally done to make flexibility for teams to add players and be able to demote them.

So, I'd hazard a guess that Philadelphia and Vancouver both plan on making moves, which is why they wanted the option to be able to demote Foster and Barker tomorrow.

Montador and Olesz are both playing for Chicago's farm team and the Hawks are putting them on waivers to give them each a chance to catch on elsewhere. Olesz has actually been pretty good in the AHL (6 points in 5 games) since coming back from injury, but has an awful contract. I think Santorelli falls into this category, too.

Hall is being waived to go back down to the AHL.

MacIntyre is on waivers so that he can be eligible to play for Toronto in the NHL this season, should the need/desire arrive.
Insurance if Rynnas jumps to back to Europe like speculated and 1 of Reimer, Scrivens or Kipper go down.
