MASON TO PHILLY
Flyers GM Paul Holmgren confirmed that the team has acquired goaltender Steve Mason from the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for (G) Michael Leighton and a third round draft pick in 2015.

Mason is 3-6-1 with a 2.95 goals-against-average and .899 save percentage in 13 appearances this season. In his last start, Mason turned aside 29 shots in a 6-4 win over the Calgary Flames.

"I'm extremely excited for it. I'm really looking forward to a fresh opportunity, going to a great organization with some players that I have some history with at the World Juniors and just really looking forward to meeting the new guys and starting off fresh," said Mason in an interview on TSN.

Over the course of his five seasons in the NHL, Mason owns a 96-99-27 record to go along with a 2.90 GAA and .903 save percentage with 27 career shutouts.

Mason won the Calder Trophy as the NHL's top rookie in 2009 after he posted a 33-20-7 record with a 2.29 GAA and .916 save percentage to go along with 10 shutouts in 61 games.

The 6-foot-4, 217 pound net minder was originally selected in the third round (69th overall) in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
