The Rangers have a list of young players they like from each organization. John Moore fits what the Rangers like. Size. Can skate. Moore allows the Rangers to move a D in another trade in the future. McD is up for a contract this summer. DZ and Girardi are up for deals in 2014. Staal in 2015. Can the Rangers afford all of them? You can see what the Rangers see in Moore. McIlrath. Skjei. All of them are big players. The Rangers have had good success with young D. Jim Schoenfeld does a very good job in helping them develop.

Gaborik was a very good Ranger. Two terrific years. Two not so good seasons. He seems to have lost a step. You look at Gaborik from Minnesota and in his first season with the Rangers and look at him now. He doesn't blow past players anymore. Everyone thought he was hurt in his 2nd season. He wasn't hurt. Gaborik can still shoot the puck. Even his shot seems a little off. He could beat goalies with his shot coming down the wing. That seemed to happen less and less.
