Food (most of these are downtown):

Corso 32 (think King Street)
3 Boars (think Dundas West)
Canteen
Doans (not Shane Doans but Vietnamese food)
Pagolac and Golden Bird (more Vietnamese both in Chinatown)
Italian Centre (better than any Italian grocery store in Toronto, trust me, and a good restaurant to boot)
MRKT
The Marc (good french food for the prairies)
The Common (also a good nightspot)
Pourhouse
Under the High Wheel
Urban Diner
Kyoto (decent sushi for Edmonton)
Furasato (ditto)
Tony's Pizza (pizza by the slice SUUUUCKS in Edmonton but Tony's rules for sit in/take out)
Langano Skies (ethiopian)
Tres Carnales (mexican)
El Rancho (spanish food on 118th Ave)

Edmonton's China town has a bad rep but loads of good food and Chinese bakeries

Bars/pubs (clubs not my scene and i don't really like sports bars either so I'm bad for this but here ya go):

Red Star
The Common (think King Street, a bit of Queen West)
Black Dog
Accent Lounge

Coffee Shops:

The Duchess (honestly one of the best dessert/coffee places in Canada, Globe and Mail agrees!)
Credo (downtown)
Transcend (southside)
Roast (downtown)

Outdoors;

River valley
River valley
River valley

It's the largest urban greenspace in any north american city. Bike, jog, golf etc.

Also go to Jasper National Park, it's a 3ish hour drive - sort of like what your daily commute was probably like in Toronto

Other:

Off the beaten path festival/art films at Princess theatre (same chain as Carlton Street Cinema in TO) and Metro/Garneau (not as good as the TIFF but they try)

Record shops - Blackbyrd (whyte), Listen (downtown)

Art Gallery of Alberta - some love it, some hate it but hey, that's art right?
Latitude 53 (think the MOCCA in Toronto)

And as others have noted, decent festivals etc in the summer... i can keep going if you want..
Holy **** this is amazing, going to print this out, lol.

KEEP GOING.
