Although it's correct that Sulzer may not be the hardest guy to play against, Pardy isn't really that much better than Sulzer imo because he takes way too many stupid penalties (as seen in his last one or two games when I recall that correctly) and is quite slow.

The situation of Sulzers' defensive skills of his game is pretty similar to the one Ehrhoff had when he was still with the Sharks (and in the first year in Vancouver): too soft playing-style but also isn't really able to find good position/using his stick to compensate the lack of physical play. As we all know, Ehrhoff was able to work hard at his defensive play and now is one of the most reliable d-man of the Sabres (plus the best offensive d-man). Sure, Sulzer is not the same calibre than Ehrhoff (talent wise), but I have the feeling that he can get a lot better when he really gets the chance to play on a regular basis.
