Also, why would Vancouver lower their price at the deadline in a trade for futures? Nothing helps them now either way (they had $7M they could have added to LTIR if a player they wanted was actually available). If Gillis traded Luongo for a 3rd rounder, then Schneider got hurt at the end of the season or in the playoffs, it would be Gillis' head if the Canucks got bounced early.
Then Luongos comments make no sense at all. It's obvious he wants to start somewhere rather than back up. GM don't screw with players that way
