This is pretty much the Habs system.
The key factor is speed, and using that speed to wear out bigger/ slower teams. However, speedy usually means smaller players, so you'll notice that when the Habs hang back (trying to protect a lead) they get outmatched physically and have trouble getting out of their zone.

Since this high tempo system is very taxing on your players you need to roll 4 lines to be effective.
That's why you never see the habs get bigger slower players or goons... they just don't fit in the system.
I don't know about that theory. Therrien's 4th liners have averaged about 10min/g, pretty much in line with most teams in the NHL. It's true that the few teams with multiple knuckle draggers (the Leafs) are less balanced... but most are similar to the Habs, where there is still a clear difference in ice time between the lines. I wouldn't call it rolling 4 lines.
