Pretty much this. The sport is inherently different. One player makes a way bigger impact in basketball than one can in hockey. Take Chris Paul off the clippers, they'd struggle to get the 7th/8th seed.

In that sense, he's even more important than Crosby (just because of the difference in sports). Take Crosby off the Pens, they'd still get the 8th seed at the very least IMO. In the tough NBA western conference, I can't see the Clippers having a definitive advantage over Harden's Rockets, the Lakers, or the GS Warriors. They don't even make the playoffs without CP3. The same way the Cavs were fighting for the worst team in the league once you eliminated Lebron from the equation.
