that's what I mean, by dirty areas. Just watch next game, anytime he is parked, it's not in front of the net, but by the post. That's the difference I've noticed in him, he's not willing to take the punishment directly in front of the net.
Well the "dirty areas" in hockey are the coners and front of the net and he goes to both. Maybe he doesn't do it like you want but don't say he doesn't go to the "dirty areas". I have seen him screen the goalie numerous times.

He had a slow start coming off the lockout + his bicep injury(which was somewhat to be expected)...4-5-9 in 20 games Jan/Feb...but he's picked up the pace since then, 7-7-14 in 21 games mar/Apr, that is a 27-27-54 pace over a full season.
