The Habs that year were a splendid mix of ruggedness, defense, goaltending and scoring. Just happens to be that Calgary was better. The Habs had 115 points and won 53 of 80 games in a time without shootouts or OT loser points. Take away those SO wis or losses and replace with ties and make the OTL's pure losses and we're 23-13-5 and even with that pace we'd be 45-25-10 in an 80 GP season. That 88-89 team was 15 points better than our current pace. And the amazing part is they started 4-7-1 but finished a ridonculous 49-11-8.
Roy last year was talking on television and he said his greatest regret was not winning the cup year. He still view it as robbery. That team was stacked.
