Gagner has turned the corner this season. It will be tough filling the void he'd leave at center if traded offensively and TOI. For example, he led all Oiler forwards in TOI vs COL last night.

Grabbing Monahan would make for a excellent core down the middle:

The blueline could use another minute cruncher. Klefbom is coming (and will arrive quite quickly). But for next season, I would realistically target Andrew Ference in the UFA market, and possibly Robyn Regehr.

The bottom six forwards could use some more size and bite. In addition to possibly Monahan, there are Moroz, Zharkov, and Khaira for the future. For immediate help, I would realistically target Bryan Bickell in the UFA market, and possibly Raffi Torres.

Not going to work. You can't just change up a couple of bottom six players and expect to make a large difference.

If we're going to keep Gagner, we need that Lucic type to offset, at the very least. If Gagner is traded, we need another C but probably doesn't need to have his offense if we're using 2 of the 4 kids on each line.
Although better this year, PRV is still not a top 6. He needs more time on the 3rd and hope he continues upward. That means we still need another top 6 player with some size/strength...
I like Bickell and it would be nice to sign him for the bottom 6.
I think we need to buy out Horcoff to give us $$ room to add another top 6 player.

Not sure what to do about D if MacT can't make a good deal with the assets he has outside the core (Hall, RNH, Ebs, Yak, Schultz, Smid, Petry). I like Petry and Smid but neither is a top 2. We need that top 2 trade and then perhaps Schultz to continue his great play from the beginning of the season.
Sign Fistric and another tough defenceman.
