The point I was making is that no way is Key Arena going to be ready by early October 2013. They'll probably have to replace the glass (as has been done in QC) and various other safety-related stuff. Otherwise the NHLPA would be fully within their rights to refuse to play in the place. If the NHL wants Seattle, the soonest they get into Key is the 2014-2015 season. That's assuming renovations start no later than early 2014. The main problem is that the Coyotes will be bleeding cash in Glendale next season.

It makes more sense to simultaneously announce Coyotes to QC and expansion to Seattle, contingent on a new arena.
