The Flames already have a much grittier team with some decent 2nd tier young talent. They have a better defence right now without adding anything.
They will have 3 1st round draft picks (by virtue of trades) in a very deep draft. That in and of itself is an amazing kick start to replenishing their team and restocking the shelves.

The Oilers have done nothing but suck for 3+ years allowing them to acquire top draft picks. No progress what so ever in surrounding these 'gifts' with solid veterans. The Oilers have clearly shown they dont have a clue regarding how to rebuild a hockey team.
If they have a another Tambo like summer (where they add 2 rookies and expect improvement) then I see the Flames passing the Oilers next season.
