No one has implied he indeed is leaving and I don't see the harm in trying to get him to sign an extension and possibly inquire if he would like to be a Hurricane or a Ranger.
I fully expect the Rangers to sign Marc to an extension next summer or shortly thereafter. I'll worry about the terms a year from now, but I'm sure it will be reasonable for both parties. The organization knows that he is the anchor of the defense, and they will make every effort to ensure he never goes anywhere. That said, if Marc decides he wants out after 2015 (which is his right) then the team will maximize his value the best they can. But again, this won't be happening within the next 365 days. I'm willing to bet anyone $ on that.
