This is really true for a lot of teams and the perceptions of each.

The Rangers finished the season on a tear.. playing the southeast.
The Capitals finished the season on a tear.. playing the southeast.
The Islanders finished the season on a tear.. you get the idea

The Penguins had their tour of the south east too.. during that 15 game win streak. In the case of this short season.. the overall picture is far more accurate IMO.
