Wirtanen and Kiiskinen were good enough for Donbass to resign them. Tuppurainen's fate is yet unknown.
It is unrealistic to expect these SM-liiga/Elitserien players to dominate in the KHL. They can be good and helpful players for their teams, but all the best non-NHL talent is already playing in the KHL (save some youngsters who are aiming for the NHL such as Barkov).
The KHL teams should not expect to get a new Thoresen or a new Lehterä or a new Kontiola when they sign players from Scandinavia, because currently there are no players of this caliber playing in Scandinavian leagues. What they should expect is to get players who can play in offensive roles in the top two lines or excellent defensive players (like Juha-Pekka Hytönen or Petteri Wirtanen) who make the team better.
If KHL teams want to get new superstars the NHL is the only place where they can get them.
