Mark Recchi lead his team in points MOST seasons, is 12th on the all-time scoring list, and ended with 500+ goals, 1500+ points, and 3 Stanley cups. Recchi puts up some of the most phenomenal numbers, in NHL history, so don't pretend like I'm putting Kessel into some 3rd rate category.

And much like Kessel, Recchi was never considered to be dominant. There is another 'tier' of players most teams would rather have.

Think of it like this: Kessel, like Recchi is an AMAZING player, but neither were or will be a real threat to win any NHL hardware.
That's true about the stats but Mark Recchi would go through a wall to make his teams win and was pretty hardnosed. Can you say the same about Kessel?
