Both are going for the puck, but Letang is nowhere near it when he stops and checks Tavares. It's unsuspecting because Letang doesn't even attempt to play the puck and instead stops up to check JT at the goal line. Do you really think if Tavares was expecting a check he would have landed on his ass that easily?
