What magical place are people expecting from our downtown? Constantly I read on this board about restaurants and bars and places for people to visit. Yet having lived and worked in it for the last eighteen years, the place is completely different than what it was. It is a place where you can now buy groceries, where vast empty space have been turned into buildings, where other buildings have been gutted and renovated (I hope to see more of that).

It is a more liveable place, becoming easier to exist without a vehicle. Sections are going to continue to be office towers, but having people here all the time is what has turned the place about, not by creating a place where people stay longer when they visit.

The arena may help with continued growth, but nobody better tout it for changing the downtown, that is happening on its own.
