Leafs forwards failing to get the puck out of their own zone and also deep into the offensive zone allowing for player changes to occur, is what kept players like Kostka longer on the ice than intended.

Carlyle didn't chose to play him that much, however once out there, the Bruins dictated how long he was forced to stay on the ice by pressuring the Leafs, and preventing changes from occurring.
