What he would go for on the open market doesn't come into the equation. Guys near the end of their bridge contracts are almost always "steals" by that definition.

My point is that it's a steal right now. Not a steal when he signed the deal. Right now, guys like Giroux and Letang have the best contracts in the league. They didn't when they signed them, but they do now.
