There is no gurantee that a team would get a 2nd or third as compensation for Zhitnik. In fact, that is unlikely. Compensation is based on a number of factors, including the other players signed by that team. If a team like Toronto was to trade for Zhitnik, for example, they probably would not get a compesatory pick at all since they're also likely to sign other UFAs this summer.
A 2nd and a prospect is fair for Zhitnik - in fact it is generous.
