Of the three drafts conducted by Savard, the 2003 is the most difficult to evaluate. Most of his picks were surprises, whereas players such as Higgins, Komisarek, Perezhogin, Plekanec, and Balej were at least talked about. I didn't expect him to pick Kastsitsyn, and I didn't know much about Urquhart and Lapierre. I had heard of Corey Locke because of his OHL stats. The real dark horse is Ryan O'Byrne. I've seen him play, but only after he was drafted. I wonder how they will make out as a group.
